“We are currently the only Dothraki website, and hope to remain that way.”

Really? So right off the bat you’re discouraging others to join you in your appreciate for the Dothraki language? Unless I’m reading that wrong, that is kind of a db comment.

Oh, and your background image is of someone who barely speaks the language. : )

Other than that, it’s a nice start to your site.

    • Lajaki says:

Hey Mike. Hmm, no, I think you misread it. We’re the only site currently dealing with the Dothraki language. We want everyone to join us here in one, unified place, instead of in a thousand small Dothraki-related sites. We’re encouraging others to join us! I’ll edit that to make it more clear, thanks a lot for the feedback.

Yeah, we’re waiting for a good pic of Drogo or some blood-riders. Don’t worry – we’ll be changing the site up as the series unveils. 🙂

      • Daisy says:

hey, did you think of maybe doing the Dothraki dictionary with a ‘from English to Dothraki’ section to make it even more easier to learn the language?

    • Cacovsky says:

Yes, I understood it the way Lajaki intended. Since we are not that many, I think it’s important for us to stay together.

  2. andalusiana says:

I understood it also. It is definitely smart to stick together when we are so few! On a side note, I very much like the image of Daenerys. She overcomes being quite a pushover to becoming a strong woman who embraces and loves the Dothraki.

  3. Gaby Navarro says:

Hi! My name is Gaby, I’m from Mexico, just started watching the serie and I completely loved it, I can wait to read the books, I trust they sell them here soon!
In any case, I would so love to learn the dothraki language you guys think I can? I hope you can help me!

btw I think the facebook link doesn’t work

    • alam says:

Hi Gaby! I just saw your comment and I thought “omg, a mexican fan”

David Peterson is going to be presenting in person at Wyrd Con this year and the focus will be on his process of creating languages. I wanted to make sure you guys knew about it just in case you wanted to attend!

Run by: David J. Peterson (Creator of the Dothraki language for HBO’s Game of Thrones)

“Ever experienced an incredible work of fantasy or science fiction that takes one to strange worlds or entirely new universes, only to discover that, as if by magic, all the native inhabitants speak English? Ever wanted to do something about it?

In this workshop, participants will work together in groups to create several brand new languages from the ground up. Explicit instruction will cover phonology (the sound system of a language), morphology (verb conjugation, noun inflection, derivation), syntax (the order of elements in sentences and phrases), and semantics (meaning). By the end of this workshop, participants will know how to:

    -Create a sound system.
    -Coin new words and names.
    -Create inflectional systems.
    -Create a new writing system.
    -Learn about language evolution.
    -Facilitate language learning.

No prior linguistic knowledge is necessary. This workshop will be led by David J. Peterson, the creator of the Dothraki language for HBO’s Game of Thrones.”

Hey guys!! first of all, this is the best website I’ve ever seen, it really is a pioneer.
I’m trying to learn the language, but I have to recognize that i’m dealing with it, because I’m speaking spanish by birth, and my english isn’t perfect. But my interest for the Dothraki language is really big, so i’m doing my best. I will wait for some website that can teach Dothraki in spanish (or I can improve my english too), but until then, I’ll try it in your website. Thanks for your job!!

  8. Nate says:

    Hi guys,

I just wanted to let you know that on Friday, June 7th, my community language learning site, Fluentli, will be opening a Dothraki community. It’d be great to have you guys with your expertise there to help others learn Dothraki!

Fluentli lets language learners get text as well as audio answers to questions they have about communicating in a language. We are fans of all languages, real or ‘fictional’, and we’ll be continually adding more language communities and features. Hope to see you soon!

  9. Hi there. I’m a game designer and developer. Our current game project is available in multiple languages, and during my free time I localized the entire ingame dialog and interface to Dothraki. Would there be legal implications if we used it in the release?

  10. denman says:

An English version of English to Dothraki would make it far easier to learn. Perhaps could be a project for the future.

  11. Hello, first of all i am so happy that i found this community. Being a fan of the book and tv show Game of Thrones saga, i have come with a request where you might be able to help me. I work for a company related to online education, where we provide a massive online education platform where users around the world have access to online courses to get education anytime and anywhere. We have received several request from users from lots of countries related to create a place where they can learn the basics of Valyrian and Dothraki languages.

Please feel free to contact me if you are interested on discussing about this opportunity.

    Have a wonderful day.

  12. Whitney says:

    Hi all –
David Peterson will be speaking to a closed audience at the Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas at the end of October. In the event members of this community will be there, we’d love to invite them to the Festival and offer free passes.
